Official Website for Oconee County
Auditor's Office

Ensure that all taxpayers are equally and fairly taxed in accordance with South Carolina regulations and assist Oconee County citizens in understanding property tax laws and their rights as provided under the law.

Our Responsibilities

The Auditor sets millage, as approved by Oconee County Council,  based upon the County’s assessed values as determined by local and state government market values and the budgetary needs of Oconee County and the School District of Oconee County. The Auditor assembles information that results in the levying of property taxes for real estate and personal property and generates tax notices that are collected by the Oconee County Treasurer. The Auditor’s Office processes personal property values and assessments (vehicles, boats, motors, airplanes, business personal property) based upon SC Department of Revenue guidelines. The office also processes Homestead Exemptions, as well as assists citizens with exemptions for other properties.

The Auditor

Kenneth (Ken) E. Nix, Oconee County Auditor will retire on June 30, 2016.  He wishes to thank the good people of Oconee County for their support over the past seven years.

Mrs. Christy Hubbard will be taking over as Auditor effective July 1, 2016.  Christy comes to the county with fourteen years of service to the county as Chief Deputy Auditor and has extensive experience and knowledge of the responsibilities.  I know that she will continue the excellent services of the office and will be happy to assist taxpayers with their property tax questions..
